Kendall Genre, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who has been in practice in New Orleans since 2006. Dr. Genre obtained her M.D. and completed her residency in general adult psychiatry at Cornell University, New York Hospital in New York. She also completed the post-graduate fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the New Orleans-Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center, where she is currently a member. Additionally, Dr. Genre holds a master’s in social work from New York University, which she obtained prior to medical school.

Since 2017, Dr. Genre has been named one of New Orleans Magazine’s Best Doctors. She strives to meet her clients where they are in order to forge a relationship in which they can effectively work together. She sees patients starting at age eighteen and is able to treat them with many types of psychiatric difficulties. Her approach is rooted in a blend of psychodynamic and interpersonal theory and includes both psychopharmacology (medication assessment and management) as well as psychotherapy. Dr. Genre also has specialized training and ongoing experience in treating women with psychiatric issues arising during pregnancy, postpartum or during periods of transition such as perimenopause. 

Dr. Genre grew up in New Orleans and currently lives with her husband, two daughters, dog, and cat. She enjoys playing bridge and the occasional indulgence in Hansen’s Snow Balls.
